How to face a Bank Recruitment Interview

There are some general questions which are asked during the bank interview round. The answers to these standard questions if given in a proper way help the candidate in getting the job. It plays a significant role for the interviewers in deciding whether the candidate is right for the job or not. The interview round is held just after the written test is over. Most of the candidates consider this round to be the toughest as here one has to talk. Some of the commonly asked questions are

• Tell me something about yourself - To this a candidate should speak about his/her educational qualification, work experience, projects accomplished, hobbies and passion, etc. This should be completed within 2-3 minutes ideally. One needs to be natural and calm in tone and talk slowly. Since the interviewer is already aware of the candidate's capabilities as he has already cleared the written test, one should talk about one's interests and strengths that pertain to the job.

• Why should we hire you?- Here, one needs to talk about one's strengths and the various achievements. This helps the interviewer in accessing the candidate's fitness for the job. One should avoid lying as the interviewers are highly experienced and they can easily figure out in case the person is lying. Mentioning positive things about oneself which is related to the job proves one's usefulness.

• What are your strength and weaknesses?- By this question, the interviewers want to know about the candidate in his own words. One needs to answer here very trickily to show one's genuine reason behind working in this sector. Mentioning about a quality that has a relation with the job will be helpful. For weakness part, the candidate has to make sure to talk about something that won't put him in trouble. Talking about the steps taken in overcoming the weakness is very important.

• Where do you see yourself after 5 years?- This question is asked to check as to how clear a vision one has about his growth. The candidate has to think very practically here and understand the level of growth that the job has.

• Some of the interview questions are technical or related to current affairs. Though rarely asked, one should be well prepared for this too. The candidate must be aware of certain banking terminologies like Cash Reserve Ratio, Reverse Repo Rate, Bank Rate, ATM(Automated teller machine), SLR (Statutorily Liquidity Ratio), 3G Spectrum, OverDraft, etc. In case, one isn't very sure about the answer, it is always better to say that he has no idea on that instead of giving some random answers.
